What is Foolishness?

A lot of my close and personal friends have been working hard on getting this project together called foolishness. Brian Sumner and Brandon Wall have headed up everything so far, and I can guarantee that anything B-Wall edits and produces will be beyond amazing! Look for appearances from all kinds of legends plus up and comers. I won’t drop names, I’ll let you see for yourself. I’m excited for this, how about you?

The Newer News

threadless
My design Daughter City is now up for voting at Threadless. I’d really love to get this printed and it’s only possible with your support. So please go vote, comment, and check it over at threadless. If you don’t have an account, get one, it’s actually a pretty fun time scoring submissions and seeing what could be coming next!
Hero Heelflip
I haven’t shot many skate photos recently, but here’s a fun one of Hero ripping the 8 at the commerce city park. He’s super talented for how young he is, and has the style of a dude who’s been skating for a lifetime.

Even more news of the things happening recently, my sister got married in Kansas. The wedding really did turn out amazing and I’m very happy for her and her husband/my bother-in-law Luke. Welcome to the fam Luke, it’s nice to finally have a brother after 23 years of pure female reign. Sorry for the lack of updates, and I hope this crazy mess of randomness doesn’t melt any minds. Anything awesome happening in your life this summer?

Nothing is New

Just a reminder that the saying from Solomon all the way back in the Old Testament is obviously still relevant today. Fixed gear or “track biking” is becoming a huge trend but check out Thomas Edison clear back before the 1900’s ripping harder than most anyone I know on a fixie. Check yo’ self before you wreck yo’ self. Edison was more than just the light bulb inventor, he was a true genius on a bike. As history shows, it looks like some of the most creative minds and inventions will continue to come from the socially outcast, like skateboarders, and fixie riders. Watch out world.

éS Game of S.K.A.T.E.

snake_kickflip
Yesterday Blacklist held the ES Game of Skate qualifier here in Greeley at The Farm. It was scheduled to be outdoors but with the recent change of weather here in CO from sunny, to Pacific Northwest style Gloom and rain, the game got moved indoors.
chad_judging
Chad, the rep for Fallen, Girl, Fourstar and maybe more, I don’t know, came up and did some high class judging.
hero_3flip
Local shredder Hero, skated good but ended up getting taken out by a Denver area ripper who ended up coming in second. Regardless, the 13 year old still has a beautiful 3 flip and a giant bag of other flip tricks.
hardflip_2ndplace
Overall it was a blast. The rain made for a much smaller crowd than initially expected but it also helped the games go smoother. Big thanks to ES for making this possible, Jamie and Chad for coming up and judging and Jamie for the new Bobby Worrest kicks, Nate for slaving to make the event happen, and everyone who came out. June 25th in Denver is the next and last stop in Colorado for the ES Game of Skate, before the finals in CA. I’ll be there, will you?

Fixed City

Fixed City is a new film coming out about fixie riding in Germany. It highlights the goods and bads that are associated with the trendiness of fixed gear riding and really digs to the core of some super gnarley riders. As they put it themselves “Riding fixed – a phenomenon. A close up in Germany, summer 2009. Switching between velodrome and trafficlights, messengers and fakengers, inspiration and revolution, trickriding and speed addiction, pragmatism and passion, purism and a very own poetry.” It comes out late this summer and i know I’m excited to see it, how about you?

TKMaestrO

If you haven’t seen any episodes of Mestro Knows I would highly recommend checking out the entertaining, “day in the life” style videos. He met up with Terry Kennedy and P-Rod for this latest episode to show off TK’s new shoe from Supra. Hopefully we’ll be getting some in at blacklist sooner than later. Enjoy the entertainment and make sure to be inspired by both of their hard work to succeed doing what they love.

Stevie D Photography

stevied_shred
I just finished building a site for my good friend and amazing photographer Stephen Denton. He’s super talented, extremely humble, and amazingly young for such an impressive portfolio. I built the site using Cargo which is a fun new CMS that’s easy to work with and update.
stevied_portrait
So go check out his site and peep this guys natural eye at shooting skate photos plus so much more. It was fun working with a good friend and trying out some new web stuff as I’m not the biggest code genius ever. There’s lots more projects dropping quick on the web side of things but I’d really like to do some more skate, snowboard, and apparel design so if anyone out there is looking, call me, shoot me an email, or post a comment. Make sure and give Stevie some props as well on his flickr and watch out for him blowing up in the mags as he moves to So Cal for the summer in 2 days. At only 18 years old, what do you think of Stevie D?

Fresh Tees from 410BC

410bc_shirts
I got two dope new shirts in the mail from 410BC today. Both were done by my homie Skiff (ithew) who is an amazingly talented designer.
medusa_410bc
410BC is an amazing company doing some really great things for the tee and custom apparel industry. They have hooked me up in the past, which was completely out of their pockets just because of how truly awesome they are, but this time around I am honored to be able to support them a little. And seriously, how dope are these shirts?
cerberus_410bc
Skiff is one talented guy and 410BC is one rad company, so check them both out and support in any way you can. Do you know of any other rad companies who take care of everyone with such amazing service and product?

Fixed Gear Fun

bluebeanie_fixedgear
Yesterday I took a little cruise on over to Loveland and picked up a new fixie for myself. I got it from a rad guy named Kirk who hooks up old frames with new components to make awesome rides for all kinds of folks. I’ve never had a fixed gear bike before but I’m super psyched to learn some new tricks and figure out how to commute on this bad boy.
crank
The bikes gonna take a little work to get it how I’m envisioning, like some new pedals, a nice paint job, and a few custom painted and stickered up areas. Hopefully before the I get too deep into summer I’ll be a fixed gear champ and be able to help other locals get psyched on it themselves. If you’ve never really seen the wildness that is fixie riding make sure to check out the MASH guys and admire their talent. Here’s another fun clip of some serious San Francisco fixie riding.

I’ll make sure and keep more updates coming on the progress and show you the final product once I actually get the time to work on it! Anyone wanna go cruise soon?

Happy New CONS Day

converse_erx300_grey
Today was a great day at Blacklist, as is every day of course, but on the extra special side of things we got a promo box from Converse Skateboarding with some new kicks for Nate and I. Nate got these epic, and super limited Grey and Blue ERX 300 HI’s. I was a little jealous to say the least.
pro_leather
However I was far from disappointed as I was blessed with another dope pair of Pro Leather’s which are absolutely my favorite shoe to skate in. These ones are all memory foam unlike the black pair I had last, and I’m super excited to rock a colorway that I normally wouldn’t pick. I think it will be good for me in the end. Thanks again to everyone at Cons for being so rad, taking care of your shops, and putting out such dope gear. A+ from me! What do you think about this whole revolution of converse in the skateboard world?
