Pro skateboarder Uriel Luebcke came to me in late 2007 for a new pro model board design after making the switch to Untitled Skateboards. Uriel is a bold Christian and he wanted his board to represent that exactly. He chose a scripture that was later added to the board as the direction and off we went in the creation process. I knew that he needed something more than just a nice picture of a lion, but rather his whole board becoming that lion, to truly get the boldness visually he was wanting to portray. The small color scheme and strongly accented shapes were used to create a piece recognizable even after a few days of skating, and really stand out from the crowd. I created a custom type face for the piece and finished it off by bringing the logo and Uriel’s name together for a solid standing, crest type tail tag. Be on the look out for these at your local parks and shops, they’re hard to miss.
